Julian Ruck – Founder and Managing Director of Kidwell-e Festival

Julian Ruck is the best-selling author of the 'Treharne Trilogy', published by Dinefwr. He came up with the idea of the festival after recognising the growing importance of ebooks and digital publishing. Mr Ruck has a wealth of experience of the writing trade and publishing industry, and regularly appears in the media, making him the perfect figurehead for the festival. Simon Rees - Arts Consultant

Simon Rees has published novels, poems, librettos and children’s verse in a writing career that spans thirty years. His first novel, The Devil’s Looking-Glass, won a Betty Trask award and was published by Methuen. His subsequent novels, Making a Snowman and Nathaniel and Mrs Palmer, were published by Penguin. He has taught English in Italy and Japan, and now works for Welsh National Opera as dramaturg, translating librettos, lecturing and writing opera programmes, a post he has held since 1989. His recent work includes a collection of verse for children, Animals, Beasts and Creatures (Poetry Salzburg Press) and a libretto for Mervyn Burtch’s children’s oratorio The Song Contest of Birds and Beasts. He is married to the Japanese writer Yoko Kawaguchi, and they live in Cardiff.

No Kidwell-eBook Award is planned for this year. Maybe next year.
